Campus Orientation Programs

Welcome Week is filled with important academic activities and social events designed to help all new students transition to campus life, build a strong connection with the campus, and get the most out of their UC Santa Cruz experience. Students living on campus receive a college welcome week guide during move-in. The guide provides an overview of campus-wide and college-specific events for the week. Guides are also available to students living off campus who are also expected to fully participate in Welcome Week events.


Colleges: Undergraduate

Each college is a vibrant living/learning community supported by faculty and staff who provide academic support, organize student activities, and sponsor events that enhance the intellectual and social life of the campus.

Events for entire campus community

Includes alumni weekend, theater, competitions, art exhibits, dances, etc. .

Athletics & Recreation

Physical Education Classes (found in the UCSC Course Catalog), Intramural Sports, Sports Clubs, Athletics (NCAA Division III), Recreation, FitLife (Drop-In Group Exercise Classes and Personal Training); In addition, there are two inter-disciplinary programs: Scuba (Physical Education classes and Recreation Club), Boating (Physical Education classes, Recreation Club, and Community Boating Center); And three youth programs:Slug Aquatics, Summer Boating, Sammy Slug Summer Camp.

Student Organization, Advising & Resources (SOAR)

At SOAR, students can choose from more than 150 active student organizations. Members can learn leadership skills, participate in workshops, work on exciting projects, and build friendships. SOAR’s professional and experienced staff offers mentorship, leadership training, organizational development advising, and event management services to all students.


Student Volunteer Center

The Student Volunteer Center (SVC) is a student-run organization dedicated to enhancing student involvement in the local community. We aim to connect students with meaningful volunteer opportunities on campus and in the Santa Cruz community while connecting local organizations with passionate and engaged students.


Women's Center

The UCSC Women’s Center provides space, staff, and resources to encourage women’s involvement in all aspects of university life and to establish and deepen connections with the Santa Cruz community and beyond.The UCSC Women’s Center affirms the dignity and diversity of all women. The center continues to challenge feminist traditions by creating community space for all women and their allies to achieve individual and social change.
